1800 King St Barn Fire

At around 1553 on July 3rd the pagers were activated for a Barn Fire that was "working". Originally dispatched were the following; Station 27, Engines 28 & 29 and Rescue 25. Almost immediately a called was placed for more manpower and apparatus. Tankers from all over the eastern part of Lebanon County were called in, and transfers and stand-bys were initiated. Due to no close hydrants in the area of the farm a tanker shuttle was setup with two fill sites. One being on Mine & Fox Road(Engine 35), and the other on 14th Ave at the playground(Engine 25). Tankers shuttled water from those two sites and dumped water into "porta-ponds", which was then pumped into the scene.

Unfortunately the barn and its contents were lost. But no injuries were reported.

S Lincoln Ave Shed Fire

At around 2000 on June 30th Stations 25, 26, 36 & Tanker 14 were dispatched for a Dwelling Fire - Shed on Fire in 25's first due area. Station 25 apparatus were already in the area doing a visit to the Lebanon Valley Business Park off of 419 & State Drive.

Engine 25 had actually just got done refueling at Hess on State & Evergreen Roads, and noticed smoke from the area. No sooner did they get onto the road that the pager went off. While enroute to the scene, the smoke got heavier, and advised county that is was "working". Chief 25 then placed a call for 2 additional tankers (29 & 29-1). Upon arrival on-scene the crew of Engine 25 pulled off a 2-1/2 in crosslay and went to work. Firefighters DeHart & Felty made a quick attack under the guidance of Asst Cheif Kleinfelter.

They quickly brought the fire under control. During the initial attack, some reactive metal was encountered, Asst 25's quick thinking, he covered that area with some D-Class supressant. Firefighters DeHart and Felty then continued on with putting the rest of the fire out. Station 26 personnel along with manpower from 36 then started overhaul. Tanker 14 was on-scene and was tending E25, while Tankers 29 & 29-1 were placed back in service with no services needed from them.

Minor damage was received by the nearby house. That exposure took some heat from the initial fire, melting away a good amount of siding, exposing the insulation.

Stations 25 & 36 remained on site while the Lebanon County Fire Marshalls did their investigation. The only injury was a civilian who was there when the fire started, he was transported to Hershey Medical Center with burns to his upper body.

A good job was done by all on-scene, and thanks to the quick inital attack there was no further damage to the exposure building.
